AIKO MATSUMURA, LMFT

Hello and welcome! My name is Aiko (she/her) and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. I have had the pleasure of supporting individuals and families through counseling for over 14 years. Together, we have addressed a variety of topics, such as relationship issues, grief and loss, work stress, traumatic life experiences, and big life changes. While I’ve had the privilege to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, values, and perspectives, one thing has been consistent and clear.  Adulting is hard!

I support individuals who are dealing with:
Anxiety
Body Image Issues
Communication
Cultural stress
Depression
Grief & Loss
Life transitions
Relationship challenges
Stress in the home, work, and school
Self-esteem, Self-compassion, Self-care
Trauma
And more

As a first generation immigrant and person of color, I realized there was not a lot of dialogue and support for someone like me during childhood. If there was support, it was often not provided by someone who looked like me or reflected my experience. I knew early on that I wanted to pursue a career where I could partner with people to help them understand and celebrate who they are, who they want to become, and support them along their journey. Being able to do that for all persons is truly special.

Are you looking for a therapist who is enthusiastic and eager to understand and support you? Someone who brings transparency, collaboration, and humor?  Like I said, adulting is hard!  In my personal experience, finding a good fit with a therapist can be quite a challenge. But once you do, therapy can feel less daunting and lonely and you can begin to take meaningful steps towards the life you hope for.  Hopefully we are a good fit.  Thank you for taking time to learn a little bit about me.  I look forward to learning about you!
